5th Cluj Economics and Business Conference : “Global Economy under the auspices of the sustainable development”

Event Description

We would like to hereby invite you to the 5th edition of the Cluj Economics and Business Conference entitled Global Economy under the auspices of the sustainable development, organized  by the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Babeș- Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, that will be held on the 13-14 November 2025.  The event is supported by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (www.econ.ubbcluj.ro) and by INFER (International Network for Economic Research- https://infer-research.eu/).

The purpose of the conference is to to bring together scholars, researchers as well as practitioners to present, discuss and debate their research results. The conference will also host an INFER special session with assigned discussants for each paper. Also, we intend to host a session for students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a Best Paper Award prize. A doctoral session will also be organized.

Our keynote speakers are reputable professors from the field of economics and a reputable practitioner from the National Bank of Romania, as follows:

  • Josep-Maria Arauzo-Carod, , Professor of Economics at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), Chair of the Research Center on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS), and Vice-chair of the Research Institute on Sustainability, Climate Change and Energy Transition (IU-RESCAT). He is Chair of the International Network of Economic Research (INFER), member of the Board of the Council of the Catalan Competition Commission (ACCO), member of the Research Council of Le Studium (Le Studium) and Fellow at the MSH Val de Loire (MSHVdL) and at the Institutd’Economia de Barcelona (IEB).
  • Pierre Garello, Professor of Economics, Aix Marseille University and Director of Institute for Economic Studies-Europe.
  • Eugen Rădulescu (to be confirmed), Director and Counselor of the National Bank Governor since 1990 till present, with some exceptions when he played other important roles such as president of Banque Agricole/Raifeissen(1999-2002) and CEC (2005-2007), Counselor of the executive director of International Monetary Fund (1996-1998). As a consultant atIMF he had missions in Afganistan, Maldive, Tunisia, Mauritania, Gabon.

  • Deadline for notification of paper acceptance – October 8, 2025
  • Deadline for payment of participation fee – October 15, 2025

·       Researchers, academics, practitioners – 500 Ron

·       PhD students (if first authors) – 350 RON

·       The deadline for paying the participation fee is October 15, 2025.

·       Undergraduate and master students – Free only if attending the students’ session

Publication Opportunities

To be considered for publishing opportunities, all contributions must be presented during the conference.

Depending on the authors’ preferences, final papers presented in the regular sessions can be published in:

  „Virgil Madgearu” Review of Economic Studies and Research (ISSN 2069- 0606) – CNCSIS B+ and indexed CEEOL, ProQuest, EBSCO Publishing, Gale Cengage, Cabell`s Directories, Global Impact Factor, Google Scholar, Index Copernicus International (website: https://econ.ubbcluj.ro/rvm/).  The submitted papers will undergo the journals’ regular review process.

Papers submitted to INFER special session, if accepted and presented, may be submitted to one of the following journals:

– Eastern European Economies

– The World Economy

– International Economics and Economic Policy

All three journals are indexed in the Social Science Citation Index. Deadlines will be announced after the conference, so the authors will have time to incorporate feedback after presentations of results. The submitted papers will undergo the journals review process.
