26th INFER Annual Conference

26th INFER Annual Conference, 18-20 June 2024, Chania, Crete, Greece.

The 26th INFER Annual Conference will be jointly organized by the Technical University of Crete (School of Production Engineering and Management) and the Harokopio University of Athens (Department of Economics and Sustainable Development). There will be special parallel sessions on economic integration along the program. This event provides an opportunity for those interested in any level of Applied Economics issues. From individual business or industrial zones to national, international or global policies that will make feasible the effective application of circular economy principles for achieving a Sustainable Development. Researchers, practitioners and entrepreneurs are invited to submit both empirical and theoretical papers that are broadly consistent in any of the Conference’s special topics. Only full papers may be submitted for the INFER Annual Conference (this applies to both general sessions and special sessions). The  26th INFER Annual Conference (18-20 June, 2024) is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the 5th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability (17-19 June, 2024).

The issued ticket covers the registration fee of participation to both events. It includes the material for both conferences, all lunches during the conferences, the Gala Dinner and coffee breaks. The registration fee does not include travel and accommodation expenses.  Please note that the paper submission is not regarded as a registration. 

Each presenter is allowed to deliver a maximum of two presentations, with the option to present all under the same fee structure a) one at the 5th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability 2024 (5th CESUST2024) and the second at the 26th INFER Annual Conference 2024 (26th INFER AC 2024) or b) maximum two presentations at the same event.

Online Paper Submission

The event will only take place in person (maximum of two presentations per person). Speakers will not be able to present remotely. Only full papers in English (by the 15th of March, 2024 using Easy Chair platform) may be submitted for the INFER Annual Conference (this applies to both general sessions and special sessions). Although it is not obligatory, you are encouraged to conform to use our template for submissions/manuscripts. All submitted papers will be peer reviewed according to a high-quality and fast referee process. To submit your full paper, please follow these steps: 1. Special issues

We would like to remind that the Annual Conference offers publication opportunities. In particular, the authors of high-quality research papers will be invited to submit them to special issues (SI) in the journals: Macroeconomic Dynamics, Eastern European Economics and Journal of Applied Economics. As for the Journal of Applied Economics, two special issues (named Article Collections) are planned:

INFER Prizes

The papers presented at INFER AC 2024 may be awarded by several prizes:

  • Research Prize (the best paper presented at the conference)
  • Policy Research Award (the best policy-oriented paper presented at the conference)
  • Young Economist Prize (the best paper presented by non-PhD students younger than 40 years old)
  • PhD Paper Prize(the best paper presented by a PhD student)

Conference VenueThe Symposium will take place at the Conference Center of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh) located 3 km south-east of Chania city centre, 13 km from the Chania International Airport(CHQ) and 1 km from the port of Souda http://confer.maich.gr/info/travel.html.The city centre of Chania can be reached by local bus. Buses leave every 20 min and the bus stop is located outside the MAICh premises on the main street (Souda Avenue). Accompanied KidsIf your children (3-11 years old) accompany you, there will be special sessions organized for them on the site, at no extra expense, while you will be giving or attending presentations (3 hours in the morning sessions and 3 hours in the afternoon sessions, including the Gala Diner). They will be involved in activities such as: cooperative and team building games board games, face painting, ballon twisting, crafts, lessons of traditional dances of Crete and Greece, zumba and kid’s yoga.There are also available for booking some limited detached fully equipped onsite accommodations (1-2 min path walk from the presentation rooms) for hosting families with kids (https://confer.maich.gr/facilities/accommodation.html).
